Paleo2Go Cakemix reviewMisschien herinner je nog de winactie van de Nutty Cake van Paleo2Go, die ik een jaar geleden ongeveer plaatste? Mijn oudste had er kort geleden nog over hoe lekker ze die toch vond. Dát, zei ze, vond ze nou echt een goede actie! Ze was dan ook erg verheugd, toen ze hoorde dat ik nu een cakemix uit dezelfde Paleo2Go keuken mocht gaan testen.

Paleo2Go (100% vrij van granen, kunstmatige suikers en zuivel) heeft nu namelijk naast de kant-en-klare Brownies2Go en Cakes2Go nu ook twee cakemixen in het assortiment: Chocoliscious en Neutraliscious. Die laatste heb ik gekregen om uit te proberen.

Omdat mijn dochter erg graag in de keuken staat, vooral als het gaat om bakken (van wie zou ze dat nou hebben?) en zij zo dol was op die Nutty Cake, vond ik dat zij het maar moest maken. Dat liet ze zich geen twee keer zeggen.

Net als met iedere andere cakemix moet je er zelf nog wel de eieren en het vet toevoegen. Voor deze cakemixen gebruik je natuurlijk kokosolie om het zuiver paleo te houden, maar met boter gaat het vast ook goed lukken.

 

De Paleo2Go Cakemix in de praktijk

Dochterlief ging ermee aan de gang en riep af en toe iets vanuit de keuken, zoals: ‘Jemig wat moeten er veel eieren in!’ Ja, dat heb je met kokosmeel, anders bindt het niet… Ze merkte ook op dat de mix in de verpakking een beetje was gaan klonteren. Daar hoorde ik haar verder niet meer over en heb het ook niet terug gezien in de cake, het was dus blijkbaar niet zo’n probleem.

Onze cakevorm is wat groot en leek me niet zo geschikt, dus raadde ik haar aan om een klein schaaltje te nemen. Omdat deze wat breed is, is de cake wat plat uitgevallen en ziet er dus op de foto niet echt als een cake uit. Voor de smaak maakt dat natuurlijk niets uit!

Een beetje ironisch merkte dochterlief al gauw op: ‘Zo hij staat in de oven, jee wat ben ik lekker bezig geweest in de keuken!’ Met andere woorde: wat was dat weinig werk en eenvoudig! Werkelijk waar, een kind kan de was doen. In no time geurde het hele huis er naar, wat een genot! En zeg nou eerlijk, soms wil je gewoon lekker makkelijk!

 

Proeven

Eenmaal klaar en uit de oven konden we dan ook haast niet wachten, iedereen stond te springen om een stuk te mogen proeven. We zette er een lekker kopje geurige kruidenthee bij en hebben allemaal een stuk geproefd en een stuk overgelaten voor als Mijnheer ook thuis was.

Het wachten tot hij was afgekoeld werd beloond, want wat was hij lekker! Precies de goede consistentie, niet plakkerig, niet te droog en ondanks de hoeveelheid eieren smaakte hij ook niet te eiig. Gewoonweg goed! Een mooie basiscake waar je vast ook heerlijk mee kunt experimenteren, want vast ook erg lekker met (gedroogde) vruchtjes of chocola erdoor bijvoorbeeld!

De mix is paleo-proof uiteraard, maar niet helemaal GAPS-legal omdat er palmsuiker en bakpoeder inzit. Omdat ik echter langzaamaan weer GAPS-af ga, vond ik dat ik deze toch wel even mocht proeven, hoe kon ik er anders een stuk over schrijven, ik had ‘m ook al niet gemaakt…!

    Ook mijn stommiteit: ik had niet gelezen dat het om een stukje gaat. Zou het anders nooit besteld hebben. Dat ze dat durven vragen. Echt, mensen: een enorme afknapper!!
