Review LifeFactory Glazen Drinkfles

Al zeker 15 jaar sleep ik, als ik op pad ben, met drinkflessen en ik heb ze in die tijd werkelijk in alle soorten en maten uitgeprobeerd. We hebben er alles bij elkaar een klein kapitaal aan uitgegeven.

Sigg flessen in alle soorten en maten en kleurtjes, met en zonder bidon cap. Totdat bleek dat er een laagje in die flessen zat dat gifstoffen afgeeft en dus gingen die flessen bij ons in de ban.

Vervolgens kwamen de CamelBaks en Nalgenes van BPA-vrij plastic in verschillende kleuren, soorten en maten en die heb ik heel lang gebruikt, ook nog toen ik inmiddels wist dat BPA-free lang niet alles zegt. In het plastic kunnen nog tal van andere nare stoffen zitten die in je drinken kunnen lekken…

 

Nu waren er ook al een tijd roestvrij stalen flessen op de markt, maar inmiddels was ik mijn water altijd met Keltisch zeezout gaan drinken voor de nodige elektrolyten, en ondanks de naam ‘roestvrij’ staal, kun je er haast zeker van zijn dat met zout (en zuur) ook dit zal gaan roesten… Ze zijn dus alleen geschikt voor water, niet voor andere drankjes.

Bovendien hebben deze flessen dezelfde nadelen als die ik al met de Sigg flessen ervaren had: ondoorzichtig, dus moeilijk te zien of ze goed schoon zijn. En meestal hebben ze ook een smalle opening, waardoor ze ook lastig schoon te maken zijn. Een ander nadeel is dat ze condenseren, als je er een koude drank in doet en dus moet je er al een hoes bij kopen of maken.

Dus ik was erg nieuwsgierig, toen ik alweer een tijd terug ontdekte dat er van het merk Lifefactory ook glazen flessen op de markt zijn. En super blij was ik,  toen ik gevraagd werd door Juglen van de aHealthyLife WebWinkel of ik deze wilde testen!

Ik ontving een 650ml. fles met zowel een standaard cap als de straw cap. Om die laatste had ik speciaal gevraagd, omdat ik veel op de fiets zit en ook spinning doe en dan is het niet echt handig er steeds een dop af te moeten schroeven!

Inmiddels heb ik de fles al een aantal weken in gebruik en neem ik ‘m overal mee naar toe. Ik zit nogal veel op de fiets en heb onlangs een nieuwe fiets gekregen die ergens ongebruikt in de garage stond met zo’n heerlijk tuttig mandje voorop. Tuttig misschien, maar wel super praktisch. Mijn tas gaat er standaard in samen met mijn nieuwe LifeFactory drinkfles met water en een beetje Keltisch zeezout.

Eerste Indruk

Stevig

Wat meteen opviel aan de fles, is hoe stevig deze is. Ik heb ‘m nog niet laten vallen, maar ze zeggen dat hij nagenoeg onbreekbaar is en dat kan ik wel geloven (zie update hieronder). Hij voelt heel degelijk en de siliconen hoes die eromheen zit, zal een eventuele klap ook nog wel enigszins opvangen. Je moet ‘m niet van boven van een steiger laten vallen, dat overleeft zelfs een (volle) Nalgene fles niet, dat heeft manlief zelf ervaren…

Update: Van de week fietste ik met de fles in mijn heerlijk tuttige fietsmandje en denderde ik over een drempel. De fles zat niet goed diep in het mandje en stuiterde zo het mandje uit op de straat… en was nog HEEL!!

Siliconen Hoes

Die gekleurde siliconen hoes ziet er niet alleen vrolijk uit, maar heeft dus zeker ook nog een functie, want behalve dat hij de fles beschermd tegen breken, heb je hierdoor ook meer grip en zal hij niet zo makkelijk uit je handen glippen. Vooral prettig als je op een (spinning)fiets zit en je met 1 hand de fles moet bedienen!

De openingen in de siliconen hoes maken dat je goed kunt zien hoeveel er nog in je fles zit en ook of deze nog schoon is.

Schroefdoppen

Op beide deksels, die overigens gemaakt zijn van polypropylene dat vrij is van BPA, BPS en ftalaten zit een handige greep waar je de fles mee kunt dragen. Deze houdt erg prettig vast, waardoor je er prima een stuk mee zou kunnen lopen met de fles aan de hand.

De straw cap geeft wel een beetje een smaakje af, maar daar ontkom je bij zoiets waarschijnlijk ook niet aan. Ik gebruik ‘m met deze cap alleen voor water met wat zout, nooit voor andere dranken, omdat ik bang ben dat deze dan lastig schoon te krijgen is.

Gebruik

De fles heeft een lekkere brede opening, waardoor je bijvoorbeeld ijsblokjes, stukjes fruit of komkommer of kruiden als munt of theezakjes makkelijk kunt toevoegen. De wijde opening maakt dat de fles ook makkelijk schoon te maken is, hij kan bovendien in de vaatwasser, maar dat heb ik nog niet uitgeprobeerd, daarvoor gebruik ik ‘m veel te vaak.

Je kunt er zowel koude als warme dranken in doen en omdat hij zo makkelijk te reinigen en vullen is en glas niet wordt aangetast door zuren of zouten, kun je er werkelijk alles in doen van sappen, smoothies tot zelfs bouillons! En dat allemaal zonder plastic smaakje!

Nadelen

Het enige nadeel dat ik heb kunnen ontdekken is dat een glazen fles natuurlijk wat zwaarder is dan een fles van plastic of metaal. Voor mij maakt dat niet zoveel uit, maar als je gaat grammen jagen, omdat je op wandelvakantie bent met een rugzak, dan is dat wel een puntje.

Waarschijnlijk zijn de flessen om die reden ook niet zo groot. De maximale grootte is 650ml. en dat is een beetje aan de kleine kant soms, maar dat is ook omdat ik er maar 1 heb en ik meestal niet alleen ben en dus mijn water deel met 1 of meer van de kinderen. Zij zouden natuurlijk uiteindelijk allemaal een eigen fles moeten krijgen!

 

Conclusie

Verder kan ik niet anders zeggen dan dat ik er super blij mee ben en hopelijk kan ik in de loop der tijd inderdaad alle familieleden van zo’n fles voorzien, want voor mij is dit de ideale drinkfles gebleken!

De voordelen op een rij:

  • Materiaal is glas, dus geschikt voor allerlei soorten dranken, ook zure of met zout en warm en koud.
  • Geeft geen smaakjes af, noch lekken er toxische stoffen in je drankje.
  • Siliconen hoes is BPA en BPS vrij.
  • Doppen van polypropylene zijn vrij van BPA, BPS en ftalaten.
  • Ondanks dat het glas is, toch heel stevig en bijna onbreekbaar!
  • Wijde opening, waardoor je allerlei dingen aan je drank kunt toevoegen, zoals ijsblokjes bijvoorbeeld.
  • Makkelijk te reinigen door wijde opening en vaatwasserbestendig.
  • Doorzichtig, dus je kunt zien hoeveel er nog inzit en of hij schoon is.
  • Houdt prettig vast, zowel aan het hengsel van de dop als in de hand.
  • Vrolijke kleurtjes, moderne look.

De Lifefactory drinkflessen zijn te koop bij de aHealthylife WebWinkel en zijn er in de maten 350, 470 em 650ml.
Allemaal met of zonder straw cap en prijzen liggen tussen de €18,99 en €25,99).

Er zijn ook babyflessen in twee maten (120ml en 260ml) en glazen bewaardozen. De straw cap is ook los verkrijgbaar.

  1. Hier worden nu de Klean Kanteen gebruikt, maar ik overweeg glazen flessen. Zou je deze LifeFactory drinkflessen aanraden om mee te geven naar school (12/13 jarigen)? Glas is natuurlijk kwetsbaar, maar met zo’n hoes wellicht toch veiliger?

    • Moeilijk te zeggen… Ik ken jouw kinderen natuurlijk niet. Ik weet niet of ze gooien met die tassen bijvoorbeeld. Met mijn kinderen zou ik het denk ik wel kunnen doen, zeker mijn dochter wel. Zoonlief (bijna 13) is misschien wat moeilijker te instrueren, maar als ik het hem goed duidelijk maak, zou het wel kunnen. Ze gaan alleen niet naar school, dus ik kan het niet uitproberen;-) Je moet ook echt wel flink hard gooien of de tas moet erg ongelukkig terecht komen (randje van een stoep o.i.d., waardoor puntbelasting ontstaat), maar het kán wel breken natuurlijk.

  3. Hallo, wij hebben deze flessen ondertussen denk ik anderhalf jaar. We zien nu dat bij beide flessen (geen schroefdop, zo’n fliptop cap) scheurtjes in de dop zitten. Hebben jullie dit ook al ervaren? Blijkt zeer moeilijk te zijn om daar een vervanging voor te vinden, de andere doppen worden los verkocht, maar deze blijkbaar niet?
