Het AntidieetboekIn anderhalf jaar tijd viel Gerrit Jan Groothedde 35 kilo af, zonder op dieet te gaan en zichzelf dus allerlei voedingsmiddelen te ontzeggen en zonder caloriën te tellen.

Gewoon ‘afvallen zonder kuren of andere fratsen’, aldus de Eetschrijver die eerder het boek Weg van de Supermarkt schreef.

 
 
 
 

Diëten zijn om af te vallen

Geen dieet volgen en toch afvallen. Tenminste geen dieet, zoals dat tegenwoordig vaak gezien wordt: een  tijdelijke kuur, liefst zo kort mogelijk   met als doel de nodige kilo’s kwijt te raken.

Of zoals Dr. Frank van Berkum daarover zegt in zijn voorwoord:

Het is maar hoe je het woord dieet interpreteert. Want dieet betekent leefwijze. Ben je te dik met jouw leefwijze? Dan is het tijd voor een gezondere leefwijze […]

Oftewel dus toch tijd voor ‘een ander dieet’…

En dat is wat Eetschrijver gedaan heeft, de echte betekenis van diëten toegepast: zijn voedingspatroon aangepast en dus zijn leefwijze veranderd.

En we noemen het geen dieet, want dat wordt meestal uitgelegd als een tijdelijke aanpassing van de eetgewoonte om zoveel mogelijk kilo’s kwijt te raken. Iets dat vaak als negatief wordt ervaren, niet prettig is en daarom niet te lang moet duren.

 

Antidieet

En dus is het fijn dat er nu een Antidieetboek is, niks geen vervelende kuurtjes meer, waarbij je moet afzien en lijden. Waar je zo snel mogelijk vanaf wil zijn om weer zo gauw mogelijk in je oude gewoonte te vervallen, of erger, en de kilo’s er dus meestal zo weer aanzitten. Het bekende jojo-effect.

Nee, met het Antidieetboek in de hand ga je je eetgewoonte drastisch veranderen, blijvend wel te verstaan!

 

Genieten

En blijvend, dat lukt alleen als je lekker kunt blijven eten, want eten is geen straf, in tegendeel! Zelfs de Bourgondiër die Gerrit Jan zegt te zijn, kan gewoon blijven genieten van lekker eten en daarom is het ook niet moeilijk vol te houden, deze leefwijze.

Na een reset die zes weken duurt om van je voedselverslavingen af te komen (en geloof hem maar, die heb je, jij ook!), zegt Gerrit Jan dat het grote genieten kan beginnen. want genieten dat ga je.

Eten is geen straf, eten is lekker en aantrekkelijk, omdat je lichaam erom vraagt. Jouw lijf weet wat het nodig heeft, als het zich tenminste niet om de tuin heeft laten leiden en verslaafd is geraakt door het enorme, bijna onbeperkte aanbod. En daar is die reset goed voor. Die periode is dan ook de enige periode van het antidieet dat je streng moet zijn voor jezelf, daarna kun je weer vertrouwen op wat je lichaam je aangeeft.

 

Gezonde Voeding bestaat niet!

Uit alle wildgroei van informatie over voeding en gezondheid heeft Eetschrijver Gerrit Jan Groothedde een aantal conclusies getrokken en die, met succes, op zichzelf en terloops ook op zijn vriendin Greetje toegepast.

Daar is niets wetenschappelijks aan, maar het is wel gebaseerd op gewoon gezond verstand. Voor hem werkte het en dat zou het voor jou ook kunnen doen. Garanties geeft hij echter niet, wel veel tips en uitleg, vaak op humoristische wijze met de nodige zelfspot hier en daar.

En over voedingswetenschap zegt hij elders nog iets in het boek wat ik je niet wil onthouden, want dat is precies hoe ik er ook altijd tegenaan kijk:

[…] waar miljoenen jaren evolutie hebben geleid tot een menselijk lichaam dat precies wist wat het nodig had, hebben een paar honderd jaar wetenschap ons wel heel veel geleerd over de mechanismen die er aan het werk zijn, maar weten we nog altijd bedroevend weinig over de invloed van ons eten op onze gezondheid. Niet voor niets worden de inzichten met de regelmaat van de klok vervangen door nieuwe. Eerst moest je weinig vet, daarna moest je veel onverzadigd vet, nu lijkt het erop dat vet ten onrechte tientallen jaren in het verdomhoekje is geplaatst.

En zo staat het boek vol met dingen waar ik helemaal achter kan staan. De conclusies die hij heeft getrokken over voeding komen voor een groot deel overeen met de conclusies die ik zelf heb getrokken als het gaat over gezonde voeding, of eigenlijk, om in zijn woorden te spreken: een gezond eetpatroon, want gezond voedsel bestaat in zijn ogen niet en daar is heel wat voor te zeggen!

 

Regels met Fun

Dit betekent namelijk dat je ook geen hele voedingsgroepen uitsluit omdat deze ongezond zouden zijn of dat je extreem veel van een bepaald soort voedsel gaat eten, omdat het juist gezond zou zijn. In het laatste geval mis je een van de belangrijkste peilers uit zijn boek: variatie!

Alles draait om puur en echt eten zonder fundamentalistisch te zijn, want fun is leuker en daarom ook gezonder. Met fun als uitgangspunt zijn er maar vier regels:

  1. eet gevarieerd
  2. eet niet te veel
  3. eet zoveel mogelijk vers
  4. eet lekker

En stiekem als vijfde regel toch ook nog: eet alleen bij hoge uitzondering uit zakjes of pakjes.

 

Oerdieet

Tegen het eind van het boek zegt Gerrit Jan: ‘Het zal je inmiddels duidelijk zijn dat ik vind dat de oermens aanzienlijk gezonder at dan wij.’

En toch noemt hij zich niet paleo, want hoewel hij veel goeds ziet in het paleo-dieet (hier dus in de eigenlijke betekenis van dieet, namelijk eetpatroon), gaat hij iets minder ver. Praktisch om dezelfde reden als ik, namelijk dat hij het te ver vind gaan hele categorieën aan voedingsmiddelen als ‘verboden’ te bestempelen en de deur te wijzen.

En dan die kaas, die hij en ik niet zouden willen missen en daar kan ik nog wel slagroom aan toevoegen…!

 

Een must read

Kortom: een boek naar mijn hart!  Leest als een trein omdat het zo persoonlijk is met de nodige humor en zeker geen droge kost. Ook voor mensen die niet hoeven af te vallen, zoals ik, een aanrader, maar als je met gewichtsproblemen kampt en al de nodige dieëten geprobeerd hebt, een ware must!
